I had a fellow knock on the door a couple of days ago to see if I would like a "Free Power Saving Device".
I told him that this will not save me power, just let me see the power in use.
Still, it was free so I let him install it on my power meter.
It is a, Emerald Electricity Adviser, a Bluetooth device that has a photo transistor stuck over the smart meter flashing LED.
As this device phones home to Emerald via the smart phone app, I will nor use it. If it was accessable directly without having to log onto an external web site, it would be useful. Of course I popped it open....

It is so tempting to activate the account and have a 555 lashing an LED to "use" Mega watt hours of power!

I wonder what is in the EPROM!

Wonder how much more of this sort of rubbish will be invented. To save power - use the switch! How well do you reckon the solar panel electric generators would be performing in THIS weather?

Surprisingly well actually. Here is ours for last week. We have exported quite a bit of power, even with all the cloud and rain.

It would be a lot better for us if our power was purchased at a fair price instead of a fraction of what it costs us to buy the same amount of power.

I just wish we could afford a good hunk of storage!
