My brother just dropped in a number of radios to see if they are good for anything.
A few AWA RT85 70-85Mhz sets,

a couple TaitT2000II sets,

a few Motorola SYNTRX sets

and a shed load of Philips PRM80L.

One of the PRM80 sets I have tried and it is on 80Mhz area.

Most of the sets are remote head types so there are a lot of extra mics, cables, heads etc.
Does anyone have experience with these?

Oh, as I was lazy, I just pinched these pictures from on line.

My nephew, who had these radios, is looking for a HF set for his boat. He is often between the mainland and Tasmania so needs good coms to talk to the freighters etc.
Anyone have a spare working Codan or similar? He does have a Codan X2 I gave him earlier and I just found the frequencies it has installed,

but it is only 10 channels. That may be all he needs but at the moment, I do not know the marine frequencies required.

The Motorola Syntrx is in a die-cast case. very nice!
One small trap, on the power cord, the red wire is -ve and the white +ve!

I have done a count. There were not quite as many radios as originally thought, going by the tangle of mics and leads.
AWA RT85 6
PRM80R (remote) 12
PRM80 5
Tait T2020-221-A00 1
Tait T2020 remote 1
Motorola Syntrx 4

Just the same, that is a lot of radios!
Not all will work I assume, and some leads may be missing or perished.
EDIT: I thought there were more!
Another box (right in front of me) has a further...
PRM80R (remote) 9
PRM80 1
