Heil PR781

I am wondering if any members are familiar with this mic.
I have tried using it on several radios with mic gain 100% but still got poor signal reports and my ALC meter struggling to get off the ground.

I am using a Heil PR microphone with my Flex From the manual and the 6x00 series datasheet it states:

Thanks for your input Mate. It looks like the PR781 is just another expensive piece of c--p. The external design is really good, and looks great in a shack. I was sucked in to buy one but would never buy another.

Joe try Les VKTEX, he has some Heil gear.

Hi Joe,
I have a Heil PR 40 it is a great mic but I'm running it on some outboard W2IHY Audio gear. The mic by itself would have too little gain to be useful but it needs some gain to make it usable.
My advice check the Heil website to see which radios it was designed for, I think they were made for ICOMS only.
It should work well with an external mic amp equiliser like the one this Russian guy makes and sells on EBay it's very good quality.
It's made buy UR6QW google him and get an equilser to suit your mic and you will be amazed at the difference it makes.
