I was looking at the bendigo radio club facebook page and they have weekly zoom meetings for different groups , which got me thinking about what Peter said about sub-groups, maybe zoom meetings for weekly catch ups or chat about different interests etc is something we could look into?

see here for more info

so while it doesn't split up the monthly meetings , but does allow for more collaboration

We already have two methods for "sub groups" This forum and the Facebook page, we don't need a third to divide communication further.

The club only meets monthly so I was thinking it just takes things into a virtual club meeting, it may unite the club and members
by making it more real time.

The forum and facebook doesn't get too much traffic

The Bendigo Amateur Radio and Electronics Club has been running these sessions for over a year now, so it must be working for them.

It may even boost club members , if we advertise "join us on our club zoom sub meeting for a session on arduiono/cw/digital modes/whatever"

I like the idea of a zoom meeting.
It may help some folk connect and whilst I an active on the forum, I do not do facebook at all.

The place to present ideas is at a club meeting not some splinter forum as suggested.
Again I repeat, we have enough forums, this one and the Face Book page.
If any do not wish to use Face Book this forum suffices. Then it would be a good thing if those sysops in charge of both insured the information appears on both would be a good thing.

You are thinking of it all wrong , the zoom meetings isn't a forum nor is it facebook , it is taking the face to face meeting to a virtual enviroment, we just came out of a pandemic where zoom meetings were the norm and they still are the norm and are a much better way to get information across compared to a forum or facebook.

But if you have a better idea outside of facebook or the forum please do share it

Let me quote a dictionary definition " Forum - A meeting or medium where ideas and views on a particular issue can be exchanged." I am thinking exactly as per the intent of your initial post, using appropriate language in response to your proposition.

Any such activities of sub groups lead to the requirement of coordination and gathering of debated information to then be acted upon in what ever manner by the membership.
As already mentioned we have two under utilised mediums already and if you add the radio side to it makes three. To be blunt your idea serves no useful purpose aside creating castles, I think we have enough of those already.
I note you are now admin in this Forum, how about you migrate that information existing on here that is of interest onto the Facebook page since you are now admin there also, instead of trying to setup other methods that will only fragment the club in creating subgroups.
