Hi all.

Thought I'd share my repairs I did to my VHF/UHF antenna. Looks like a cocky or a crow strike. Have had a few in the area lately. Nevertheless, the repairs seem to be working fine.

Basically, I cut out the broken piece, and replaced it with a short length of 25mm grey PVC piping. VK3YNV Ray advised me that the grey PVC is UV resistant.
Using a heat gun, I stretched open the ends of the PVC by using a smaller diameter PVC. I kept stretching till I achieved the correct size and depth. Keeping the original measured length before I cut out the broken section.
Glued it all together then covered it all with a length of double wall glue type heat shrink.

It’s got a little woof in it but will do for a bit for now.

Cheers VK3MFE.

Nice repair job, that should make the crows and cockies work a bit harder. Using glue-line heatshrink is a great idea.
