The modem failed at some stage in the last 24 hrs and required a re boot this evening.We might have to invent an automatic power down on a 24 hr basis with 23 hrs and 59 minutes on then 1 minute off then a power on re-boot. I would suggest that could occur at 24.00 hrs. midnight as there is minimal user action at that time. Any ideas ?

That is simple but it may stay off for to long as its minimum time will be too long.
This could be a good project for you to use an Arduino, clock module and solid state relay.

Thanks Denys. The Arduino with a simple instruction and timer with relay seems like a pretty good idea. We would only have to switch the B+ to the Modem so that should not be too much of a challenge. We could have a discussion with others and see what we come up with.
