Sweeping RF Toroidal transformers.

I have recently carried out a swept response test of a toroidal RF transformer. The transformer has 16 turns and 4 turns. For testing it was necessary to wind an extra transformer of the same configuration so as to satisfy the 50 ohm impedance requirements of the spectrum sweeper The swept range was 0 to 35 mhz, the measured insertion loss at 30 mhz was about 3db through the two transformers, so if one transformer were to be used as an isolation coupling and impedance conversion device for example with a loop antenna , the insertion loss figure could be halved to 1.5 db. The measured capacitance between the primary and secondary winding of a transformer is about 6 pf. The transformer seems to give a reasonably good result ? The images show the testing.

Bill, do need a 1kw transmitter to test core saturation point!, freq response test is a pass. The static protection/rf overload filters have finally arrived, will visit again for upgrade soon.
