Keeping your hands in your pockets at all times was a basic safety precaution.
I got the worst 240v shock of my life in one of the most highly rated production facilities in China. Wiring on 240v outlets was seemingly random. I never went back to that factory again.

That explains why there is a particular make of caravan imported from china that has to have the 240 volt system inspected on every unit, with the random and dangerous wiring corrected by an electrician.
