Repairing a Fiddle.

The images show the repair of a Fiddle , this instrument had completely de-constructed itself in its case , EVERY glue joint had failed and all the parts were lying in a heap when the case was opened. Also shown are some special clamps which I made in order to help with re-assembly. Another image shows the fitting of the next front rib and the lining strip being held in place with spring sticks.

Most persons would have no idea that they can be repaired, and most likely bin it!
The trick now is to work out the mix of Borax and other substances to emulate the work of Stradivarius and the others in Cremona!
The labs are trying to find out using gas chromatography mass spectrometry.
Great Work Bill. vk3zna

Gee, perhaps I should have a go at replacing the pads on my old clarinet and saxophone. It should be a walk in the park compared to this.
Maybe we could have a crack at this when finished.
