Came across a facebook posting"
During World War I and the Vietnam War, researchers found that live trees could conduct radio signals and function as antennas.
The theory proposes that a tree can be transformed into a broadband antenna by attaching current probes at various points on the trunk and branches."

It sounded like a pretty good research , so i hit up google to read up more on it
"Radio transmission and reception experiments conducted in a tropical jungle are described. The performance of conventional whip antennas is compared with the performance of trees utilized as antennas in conjunction with hybrid electromagnetic antenna couplers (HEMAC's). The trees were found to outperform the whip in some cases by up to 20 dB."

with the link above you need an account, so here is a paper on it

You might like to read my "POST" THE REDGUM TREE ANTENNA. In Project Workbench on April 28th 2023 page No 5. Along with discussion with other members on the Tree / RF phenomenon. They work quite well as antennas. Cheers

thanks for that Bill, next time I am out painting (most likely tomorrow) not only will I be looking at what tree to paint , but trying to decide if that antenna would make a good antenna
