Passive Ethernet Network Hub

Here is a pcb for a design for a 3 port passive ethernet hub. It is designed for 10Mbit half duplex. so it will be not great for modern high bandwidth systems. but for low noise it would be good. Diode selection is up for debate. Im just going to try some 1N4148 in a SOD-123 package. Routing is not optimal but on jlcpcb 7628 stackup it should be not too far from 100Ω.

i donno if i got it right.

parts and boards arrived. I've assembled one with the i think the best choice diode LL101A-GS08 60V schottky.

it works. at 10Mb HD. not at 100Mb HD. win.

the hosts did not auto negotiate the 10Mb HD. i had to set the upstream switch manually.

speed tests with two simultaneous talkers we get ~4MB/s each. and single talker about 8 Mb/s.

Great work!!

Time to get Bill to install it in place of that noisy network switch and see how much the noise floor drops by.
Also has a side benefit of using less power which will benefit solar.

Good work. When shall we try it out?
