Locked oscillator synchronous AM. detector

I am experimenting with this locked oscillator am detector for receiver use. The idea is that it locks the on board oscillator to the IF. carrier signal which is stripped of modulation by the limiting process, that signal is then used to switch the diodes in the detector circuit. The modulated IF. signal is applied to the detector input port, and out comes the "nice clean audio". Well that is the theory. At the present, under test, it demodulates a 1 kHz tone from the signal generator with the carrier at 530 kHz and 500 millivolts with 30% 1kHz modulation. I have yet to hook up to a receiver, that will be the real test.
