Australian Wartime Radar. A strong local connection.

Since the topic of Radar has arisen check out, Alfred George Pither. George was a friend of my parents and occasionally visited us on the farm. He would inspect my latest Radio projects with interest. At one stage George held the calsign VK3 VX. We surely must respect George for the work that he and his team carried out to bring Radar to our area during WW2. Just a bit of history. George was born in Shepparton .

Interesting guy, I bet that very few in Shepparton have even heard of him. Here is a little more information. https://www.eoas.info/biogs/P005864b.htm

Back in the early 1970's I worked for Sefton Hamman at CSIRO division of Applied Chemistry. He was involved in early radar development at the Radio Devlopment Laboratory in New Zealand where they designed and manufactured Radar Systems.

He and David Solomon were responsible for a large part of the development of the plastic banknotes we now use.
