Test VFO

I am still playing with various radios so here is what I have come up with as a test VFO.
TestVFO.jpg

This is using my Arduino VFO.
The 3 outputs are:-
CLK0 = First mixer VFO. In this case, sig requ + IF. The IF in this case is 1.650Mhz.
CLK1= USB/LSB injection freq. LSB = 1.647Mhz, USB = 1.650Mhz.
CLK2= The wanted signal frequency. This can be used to align the RX.
It is a hack of my HF VFO. and ith band switch is set to full range.

Here is the inside view so far.

I will add buttons for USB/LSB selection and band switching, then mod the code to suit shortly.

Good work. I like the way the leads are all contained and silicon to stop em, braking off .

Here it is updated it a bit...
Test_VFO3.jpg

There is a now a button to toggle the side band as well as band up/down buttons.
On a radio, the bands will be selected using an analog voltage from the band switch.
A version for the actual radio may use the Raspberry Pi Pico as it has more memory space, enough to add extra meters.
As the Pico has more memory, the test unit may end up with various radios frequencies as a select-able menu item, saving having to recompile for each different set type.
This is proving to be a very handy device for modding the radios.
I reckon I may build this into a metal case, with batteries and attenuators included.

EDIT: version 4 is here now in place of version 3.
This has USB/LSB working correctly.

Would you like a hand to make a case of aluminium, I have brake press and folder here.

That sounds like a good idea Bill.
I'll give you the bits so you can build one for yourself.
I have put another version of the code up. Just noticed the encoder button is not working. It will most likely be a wire off as I had it apart for mods.
At the moment, my test VFO is running the Codan 8727 radio and it works fine. But I cannot get the radio to transmit from the mic. Tune is ok so I know it can produce power.
Tonight I hope to have it for listening to the net at least.
